We can sleep in on Sunday. The racing is done and we can have some rest before we pack everything up again. After all our personal luggage has been packed, we start to take the bike apart. When we get the bike out of its bag, we are surprised by the lettering on our bike. Our bike has been Mowetted! That was to be expected. We had our fun on Mike Mowetts bike three years ago, when we left our autograph by changing NORUS into NO-RUSH. And this year we had our fun with the Primal team bike. Now it's our turn and Larry Lem and Tom Amick did a great job. Well done, guys!
When everything has been packed we leave for Reno. We have a late lunch at Fuddruckers. We can travel on for a couple of hours on a good burger. Around seven in the evening we arrive in San Fransisco. The hotel had already been booked while we were on the road, so we can take up our room quickly. We get freshed up first and then we head to a restaurant around the corner for something to eat.
We have breakfast the next morning at IHOP and we check the car back in at the rental company. Then we take the light rail to the airport. Checking in is a breeze. They apparently have enough seats, so we can sit in a normal chair again. The flight is smooth and we arrive at Schiphol Airport nicely in time. But we are in for another surprise. After waiting for more than an hour it turns ou that David's bag and the bike were not on our flight. We fill in a number of forms and say goodbye to eachother for now. Battle Mountain 2013 is really over now.
Post Scriptum: David's bag and the bike have been delivered at the right address. Aparently they have been subjected to an extra search in San Francisco and missed our flight.
